As of May 31, 94% of the nation’s spring wheat was planted vs. 86% last week and 89% average. Spring wheat emerged was at 72% vs. 56% last week and 67% average. Spring wheat’s initial crop condition rating was 47% g/e, 47% fair, and 6% p/vp (and much lower than the average trade estimate of 60% g/e).



As of May 31, 93% of the nation’s corn was planted vs. 86% last week and 92% average. Corn emerged was at 76% vs. 60% last week and 74% average. Corn’s initial crop condition rating was 67% g/e, 28% fair, and 5% p/vp (the trade had expected to see a 70% g/e rating).



As of May 31, 87% of the nation’s soybeans were planted vs. 79% last week and 80% average. Soybean emergence was at 65% vs 49% last week and 57% average. The initial soybean crop condition rating was 66% g/e, 29% fair, and 5% p/vp (traders had expected to see a rating of 68% g/e).



As of May 31, North Dakota’s canola was 84% planted vs. 58% last week and 72% average. Canola emergence was at 43% vs. 24% last week and 29% average.

As of May 31, 40% of the nation’s sunflowers were planted vs. 27% last week and 35% average. ND was 59% planted vs. 40% last week and 44% average.
