Crop Insurance Harvest Price Tracking

Crop Insurance Harvest Price Tracking

Harvest prices are now official for barley, oats, rye, spring wheat, durum, and winter wheat in SD. Since the harvest prices are higher than the base prices, you must have a bushel loss to have a claim. Since you cannot have a revenue only loss, we will not be sending out revenue loss estimators. Please contact our office if you need help determining if you have a claim.

Canola and flax harvest prices are being tracked this month. Official prices for these crops will be released in early October.

If you have RP coverage and the harvest price is lower than the base price:

  • The base price is used to determine your guarantee.
  • Production to count will be multiplied by the lower harvest price.
  • You can be over your bushel guarantee and still possibly have a revenue loss.

If you have RP coverage and the harvest price is higher than the base price:

  • Your guarantee will be recalculated with the higher harvest price.
  • Production to count will also be multiplied by the harvest price.
  • In this scenario, you must have a loss of bushels to have a claim.
