The Feb COF report was neutral to friendly cattle as it continues to show tight supplies. The actual figures for the report were close to expectations. The numbers were On Feed: 98% (as expected), Placed: 95% (1% less than expected), and Marketed: 87% (as expected).
The report also showed that feedlots with more than 1,000 head of cattle and calves on feed represented 83% of the operations vs 82% last year. Steers accounted for 61% of the class of cattle on feed while heifers accounted for 39% for 2025.
