For Stage 1:
If you had a crop insurance loss in 2023 or 2024 you should receive a pre-filled application from FSA.
- PP acres are included in the payments
- PRF haying acres are included, PRF grazing acres are excluded
- If you do not receive an application, it may be due to this:
- If you have a loss under SDRP Stage 1 but were paid on a 2023 crop/unit that was previously paid under ERP 2022 Track 1, you cannot receive an SDRP Stage 1 payment for that crop/unit.
You must have a qualifying cause of loss to receive payment.
- For our region, the qualifying causes of loss will mostly be excessive moisture, excessive heat, or drought.
- But your county must be on this list to qualify for drought: https://www.fsa.usda.gov/tools/informational/fact-sheets/fsa-sdrp-drought-eligible-counties-factsheet-508-25-final)
- You will self-certify your cause of loss. It does NOT have to match crop insurance. From what we’ve been hearing, county FSA offices have been letting their producers know what qualifies in their county.
- If you had multiple causes of loss, you only need to list the one that would qualify for payment.
- For example, you had a revenue only claim due to a decline in price. If excessive moisture, excessive heat, or drought played any part in your final yield (or any other qualifying cause of loss), you will qualify for the disaster payment.
- For PRF haying acres, if your county is not listed as a drought qualifying county, you can list excessive heat as your cause of loss.
Other Notes:
- Sign up for Stage 2 (shallow losses) is targeted for mid-September.
- At this time, there is no deadline for Stage 1 applications.
- FSA will update their FAQ as questions arise. The FAQ can be found here: https://www.rma.usda.gov/about-crop-insurance/frequently-asked-questions/supplemental-disaster-relief-program-sdrp
